07.09.2025 - Doctoral Study

In the middle of Fab25 conference I had my annual assessment. It was a bit strange, I’m actually studying at the Universitat de Vic (UVic-UCC) and I’m working at University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI), the first nearby Barcelona and the second nearby Lugano.

I already felt this experience is kind of distributed, but I never imaged that this was the routine for me, adding even more cities into this new distributed journey.

I’m kind of a person who is searching tranquillity in the places where I am, so the day before the meeting I had to search a place that was not so much frequented during the conference to not stress out during that specific day.

After talking with some guys from the organisation, Jan Suskleb decided to help me in this search. After he gave a few option I decided the closed cafeteria was the actual place, air conditioning was there, and there was a corner that felt ok with a chair and a small table.

After going back home I so decided to try the setting out. Mac on one side, iPad on the other. Figma slides open with presenter view and I tried a few times the presentation, me and myself in a bed in the city center of Brno.

The day arrived, and after following a few talks at the theatre, I took my belongings and went to the University of Brno, where the closed cafeteria was waiting for me.

On the street, I remember having just a single song in my head: Fuori dal tunnel by Caparezza. I think I didn’t heard this song since more than 10 years, but in these moments your head is going where it wants…

Arrived there the situation was a bit different than the day before: I was not the only one having the same idea and going working in this cool room.

But, it was destiny, I choose it and I felt good in that place, so I decided to stay there. The meeting started and after waiting a few minutes and some presentation, I did it.

It went super well, I cannot be more enthusiastic than that, super and constructive comments. I had a great time discussing with the commission about my doctoral research and they were pretty much satisfied.

In another ledger I will go in depth on the comments, to keep track of it, and since there will be some changes in direction (from my personal point of view) I will keep track of it.

I hope to have the same energy talking about the second year assessment, and of course I wish that I have successfully passed this year’s one.

Stay hungry, Z.
