Abstract

Save the Ocean is an interactive game designed to raise awareness about the pressing issue of plastic pollution in our oceans. Players assume the role of a fisherman, using a net to collect plastic debris from the sea, thereby highlighting the environmental challenges posed by plastic waste.

Concept

Players control a fishing net using their mouse, aiming to catch as many pieces of plastic as possible. This engaging gameplay mechanic serves to educate players on the prevalence of plastic pollution and the importance of ocean conservation.

Process Development

The game was developed over a two-week period as part of a university project in December 2021. Utilizing P5.js, the development process involved creating a system based on three distinct scenes, incorporating foundational programming knowledge and logical structures acquired during the course.
